Adult Hula Classes
New Adult Hula Students Are Accepted the First Class of Each Month
Students with prior Hula experience will be placed in a beginning Hula class
and may be invited to move to a more advanced class.

Makua Beginning Hula I AM
Thursday – 8:55am to 10:10am PT IN-PERSON AND ONLINE
This class is open to adults of all ages and is geared towards students 55+ to learn basic hula steps, hand position, dance posture, and become familiar with Hawaiian chants and songs. This class is combined with the Kupuna (55+) Hula class the last class of each month at 10:15 am PT so everyone can enjoy lunch together.
Costuming and performing for this class is optional.

Makua Beginning Hula I PM
Thursday – 7:25 to 8:55pm PT IN-PERSON AND ONLINE
This class is for all new students, regardless of previous hula experience. This class introduces you to hula basic steps, hand motions, dance posture, Hawaiian language and culture, chanting and songs.
Costuming and performing for this class is optional.

Makua Beginning Hula Precision Group
Thursday – 9 to 9:30pm PT IN-PERSON AND ONLINE
This class is for students that are also enrolled in the Beginning Hula class and wish to take their skills to the next level. We will work on precision to learn to dance gracefully and confidently as an individual and as a group, to perfect skills to move up to the Intermediate class and to be challenged with new skills. All students who join must have solid basic steps and must receive instructor approval. This class is required for those students wishing to move to the Intermediate level. You must be a student in the Beginning Hula class in order to attend this class.
Costuming and performing for this class is required. Exceptions are given to students that do not live locally.

Kupuna (55+) Hula
Thursday – 10:15 to 11:45am PT IN-PERSON AND ONLINE
This class is for students 55 years old and older that already know their basic hula steps, Hawaiian language and songs. Students in this class are able to put their hands and feet together smoothly and are committed to performing for community events and senior facilities.
Costuming and performing for this class is required. Exceptions are given to students that do not live locally.

Kupuna (55+) Hula Precision Group
Thursday – 11:50am to 12:50 pm PT IN-PERSON AND ONLINE
This class is for students 55 years old and older that have solid hula basics. It is designed for the student that wishes to perfect their skills and move together as one consistent group. It is similar to a semi-private lesson. You must be a student of the Kupuna (55+) Hula class in order to attend this class.
Costuming and performing for this class is required. Exceptions are given to students that do not live locally.

Waena Intermediate Hula
Thursday – 5:50 to 7:20pm PT IN-PERSON AND ONLINE
Beginning students will advance to the Intermediate level of hula upon instructor assessment and approval. The Intermediate hula dancer has built strong hula basics, is able to easily put hand and feet motions together, can learn dances quickly, has knowledge of the Hawaiian language and can perform more difficult dances and motions.
Costuming and performing for this class is required. Exceptions are given to students that do not live locally.

Lokomaika’i Advanced Hula
Sunday – 5:10 to 6:25pm PT IN-PERSON AND ONLINE
Costuming and performing for this class is required. Exceptions are given to students that do not live locally.
Advanced Hula students must also be enrolled in the Tahitian Dance class.
