Hula Classes for Children (Keiki)

Hula Hālau ‘Ohana Holo‘oko‘a Offers Hula Classes For Children (Keiki) Starting at Age 3

Things You Need To Know
  • The Keiki classes are taught in 12 week sessions
  • New students must be able to participate in the class by themselves.
  • All new students will start in the Nā Kamali’i Hula I class regardless of age and will be evaluated and moved up upon instructor approval.
  • New students are accepted the first class of each session.
  • Please discuss your child’s individual situation with Lisa prior to enrolling.

Nā Kamali’i Hula I: (Beginning Hula for Ages 3+)

Sunday – 2:45 to 3:15pm

This class is appropriate for the young beginning dancer. Basic hula steps and hand motions are taught separately. We have a circle time for getting to know all hula sisters and brothers and learning Hawaiian language and songs.

Costuming and performing for this class is optional.

Nā Kamali’i Hula II: (Beginning Hula for Ages 6+)

Sunday – 2:45 to 3:30pm

This class is for children who are 6+ that have taken at least one session in the Nā Kamali’i Hula I class with us and are able to participate in class without behavior issues. We focus on learning all of the basic hula steps and work on putting the hands and feet together. Hawaiian vocabulary will be tested while they are performing their hula basics.

Costuming and performing for this class is required.

Nā Keiki Hula: (Intermediate Hula for Ages 6 -14)

Sunday – 3:15 to 4pm

This class is for children who know their basic hula steps and are able to easily coordinate hand and feet motions. Hawaiian vocabulary will be tested while they are performing their hula basics.

Costuming and performing for this class is required.
